ALARMING STIMULI DETECTED. WAKING...
I raise myself from the bed, eyes psychosomatically sticky, as I recalibrate my senses.
It's not a bed, not anymore. But it still offers respite, all the same. Perhaps that is why it shares the moniker, despite its cold, hard frame.

I always disable my ears to sleep better. There's probably a better way to do it than this, but who cares.
I already have to debug my work computer. I'm not doing it to my fucking ears.
I blink a few times, and look over, seeing someone in the corner of the room.
My eyes auto-focus, and-

I raise a hand up, signaling them to wait. They glance at the module at the nightstand, and realize something.
「󱤀󱦜 󱥈󱤴󱦜」, they say, apologetically.
"No, it's -- it's fine, just-- give me a second."
I pick up the translation module from the bedside table, and regard it for a moment.
It looks similar to a graphics card, before they made them look all gaudy again. About the size of a small paperback book.
I move it to the right side of my head, letting it register in the installation slot before sliding it in. I flinch a little, expecting it to hit my skull, but I have no skull, and haven't for a very long time now. It clicks into place, and I feel a new sense appear. As if it's second nature, I say󱦞󱦞
